Payment Order Lawyers in Dubai

Part of KH Legal’s debt collection practice.

The payment order is the sharpest tool in UAE debt recovery: an enforceable court order for a documented debt, issued on the papers, without a full trial — often within days to weeks. When your claim qualifies, choosing any slower route wastes months. Our execution-focused team, including specialist Mouaz Al-Khatib, files these constantly.

When a Payment Order Is Available

Under the Civil Procedure Law, the fast track applies when your claim is for a fixed, due sum of money (or a commercial instrument) evidenced in writing: contracts, signed purchase orders, invoices with delivery records, account statements, acknowledgments of debt, cheques. A prior written demand to the debtor is required before filing. Genuinely disputed debts that need witnesses belong on the ordinary court track instead — and knowing which track fits is half the value of advice.

How the Process Runs

  1. File check — we assess your documents against the payment-order requirements; weak files get strengthened before filing, not rejected after.
  2. Formal demand — served correctly, starting the clock.
  3. Application — filed with the competent court; the judge decides on the documents, typically within days.
  4. The debtor’s window — short deadlines to pay, grieve or appeal; unchallenged orders become enforceable as they stand.
  5. Execution — bank account attachment, asset seizure, and the enforcement machinery that turns paper into payment.

Why Files Fail (When They Fail)

Missing demand proof, unsigned delivery notes, invoices that don’t reconcile with orders, claims mixing fixed debt with disputed damages. The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation’s 2026 payment-order jurisprudence — which we analyzed here — shows exactly what documentation pattern wins: one consistent story across purchase orders, deliveries, invoices and statements.

Cross-Border Creditors

Foreign companies owed money by UAE debtors use this route daily through counsel — no personal presence required. We run the entire sequence under power of attorney, reporting at each stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a payment order in the UAE?

A fast-track court order for documented debts: the judge decides on your papers, without a full trial — typically within days to weeks — and the order proceeds to execution if the debtor doesn’t successfully challenge it in the short windows provided.

What documents do I need for a payment order?

Written evidence of a fixed, due debt: contract or purchase orders, invoices, delivery records, account statements, acknowledgments or cheques — plus proof you demanded payment before filing. The stronger the documentary story, the faster the order.

How fast is a payment order compared to a normal lawsuit?

Orders commonly issue within days to weeks of filing versus months to years for substantive litigation. For qualifying claims it is the fastest legal route to an enforceable title in the UAE.

Can the debtor stop a payment order?

They can grieve and appeal within short statutory windows — but objections must be raised properly and on time. Unchallenged orders become enforceable exactly as issued; poorly-made challenges fail.

My debt is partly disputed — can I still use this route?

The fixed, documented portion may qualify while disputed elements go the ordinary route. Splitting the claim strategically is a common and effective approach — one we assess in the initial file check.
