This page is the story of how one became the other.
The Founding — 2008
In 2008, Jouslin Khairallah founded the firm from a first office in Dubai Healthcare City, establishing the practice under the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises — Dubai’s program for nurturing homegrown businesses. The founding conviction was simpler to state than to live up to: clients deserve candor before comfort. Tell them where they stand, what the case is truly worth, and what it will really cost — then fight for every dirham of it.
The standard proved itself quickly: within its first year, the young firm was recognized for best service among the businesses established under the program — an early signal, from Dubai’s own SME establishment, that this practice was built differently.
In a legal market as competitive as Dubai’s — and as a woman founding and leading her own practice — that conviction had to be proven in courtrooms, not brochures. It was. Case by case, the firm earned its reputation before the full ladder of the UAE judiciary: the Courts of First Instance, Appeal and Cassation in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the Federal Supreme Court, and the DIFC Courts.
The Growth
What began as one lawyer’s practice grew into a full-service firm spanning corporate and commercial law, litigation, labour, real estate, maritime, insurance, family law, criminal defense and debt recovery — because our clients’ problems never respected practice-area boundaries, so neither could we.
You can trace that growth through the firm’s addresses: from the first office in Healthcare City, to the Dusseldorf Business Point in Al Barsha, to Churchill Tower in Business Bay. But the truer measure is the clients. In the early days, they could be counted on one hand. Today they number in the thousands — among them international companies and law firms around the world who entrust their UAE matters to KH Legal. When other lawyers choose your firm, that is the profession’s own verdict.
Along the way, the firm assembled the bench it has today: partners with three decades of courtroom experience and judicial precedents at the UAE’s highest courts; doctorate-level corporate counsel trained in Paris and Singapore; and a team that argues in Arabic, advises in English, and consults in Russian. In 2016, Jouslin Khairallah was named Managing Director of the Year by Women in Law — recognition of both the firm’s growth and her place among the region’s leading Arab women entrepreneurs in the legal profession. In 2022, she joined the UIA (International Association of Lawyers), connecting the firm to the global profession.
The Rebrand: Why KH Legal
Nearly two decades in, the firm’s work had outgrown its borders. Our clients were no longer only Dubai businesses; they were multinational groups, international investors, and expatriate families from every continent — with matters connecting the UAE to jurisdictions around the world.
KH Legal is the name for that reality: shorter, borderless, built for an international practice — while the “KH” carries our founder’s name and our history in every letter. We did not change who we are. We named who we had become.
What changed: the name, the reach, the ambition.
What did not: the people, the licenses, the standards — and the founder’s original conviction, still on the wall: candor before comfort.
Where We Are Today
Today KH Legal operates from Churchill Tower in Business Bay — a long way from that first office in Healthcare City — serving clients across the UAE and internationally in English, Arabic and Russian. Our lawyers publish continuously on UAE legal developments — court judgments, new legislation, practical guides — because we believe an informed client is a stronger client.
